PPM's founder Ian McDowell started life as a "Rev" (of the hospital chaplain variety) in the East End of London, where he was able to close the gap between local communities and "the system". His much-copied Communities of Health initiative in East London led to national work in the Prime Minister's Office of Public Services Reform, and he was a Policy Fellow at Cambridge University's Centre for Science and Policy. He won the Health Service Journal's Liberating Ideas competition in 2012, and in the same year his Both Sides NOW concept came first the Prime Minister's Patient Feedback Challenge.

PPM's Patient Leader Kate Corney was diagnosed with Stage IVb Hodgkin's Lymphoma in July 2014 and has been living with cancer ever since. Kate studied History at Queens' College Cambridge, and after graduating she worked as a Conference Producer for three years. Kate then became a History Teacher in 2012. Since her diagnosis, Kate has worked to change perceptions of life with cancer, and her blog The Emsworth Foodie, which details her cancer journey, has become a source of inspiration for many. Macmillan Cancer support documented Kate’s story in 2015, and she recorded an appeal with the charity for Absolute Radio.

PPM's Engagement Officer Darren Morgan pioneered open      coding systems to establish trends, driving improvements in    the design, delivery and scrutiny of local health services. His    work has been recognised by NHS England and the Care            Quality Commission, and has been adopted nationally by          organisations including Healthwatch. When not advising                                          PPM on coding and analysis of patient stories, Darren                                                contributes to the work with a number of Healthwatch                                              organisations across London.
